P1 Dr. Khalid Al-Mansoor was born in 1968 in a small fishing village near the Arabian Gulf coast. He made a solemn promise to himself that one day he would become a doctor and help sick children in rural communities.
P3 Khalid studied diligently throughout high school and achieved outstanding academic marks. In 1986, he received a competitive government scholarship to study medicine at King Saud University in Riyadh. Living in the capital city was a major transition, but Khalid adapted quickly. He spent countless hours in the library and clinical laboratories. After six demanding years, he graduated with top honors in 1992.
P4 Two years later, Dr. Khalid got married to Fatima, a caring high school biology teacher, and they started their family. In 1998, Dr. Khalid travelled to London to complete advanced surgical training in pediatric surgery. He worked at a renowned children’s hospital for four years, gaining invaluable surgical experience.
P5 In 2002, Dr. Khalid returned to Saudi Arabia and founded a specialized children’s surgical center. Over the past two decades, he performed over four thousand successful operations and trained hundreds of young Saudi surgeons. Although he retired from full-time surgery last year, he continues to visit rural clinics every month to offer free medical consultations. Dr. Khalid’s remarkable life story demonstrates that perseverance, family support, and genuine dedication can transform dreams into lasting achievements.
