P1 Mansour is a 28-year-old telecommunications engineer living in Riyadh. Like many young professionals across the Kingdom, his daily life combines traditional habits with modern digital technology. Every weekday, Mansour wakes up early at 5:30 AM to pray. After having a quick breakfast with his parents and getting dressed, he leaves home at 7:15 AM to beat the highway traffic. While commuting to his office in the King Abdullah Financial District, he relies on his car’s satnav and listens to educational podcasts about artificial intelligence.
P2 At work, Mansour’s routine is fast-paced. He checks his emails, attends team meetings, and inspects network equipment. However, his work does not stop him from taking regular breaks. "I always take a short break around 11:00 AM to drink traditional Arabic coffee and talk to colleagues," says Mansour. In the afternoon, he usually finishes work at 5:00 PM and returns home to relax with his family.
P3 Digital devices play a huge role in Mansour's life. He owns a smartwatch that tracks his daily steps and a tablet for reading digital news. In the evening, he often uses his smartphone to shop online for books or message friends on WhatsApp. "Technology helps me find information quickly and stay in contact with university friends," he explains. "However, I never use my phone during family dinners. We believe spending quality time together in person is the most important part of the day."
P4 Weekends are special occasions for social gatherings. Every Friday afternoon, Mansour’s extended family meets at his grandfather’s house for a grand lunch. During winter, they often go on desert picnics. Whenever friends suggest meeting for dinner, Mansour checks his schedule first. If he is free, he responds with enthusiasm: "That’d be great! Count me in!"
