CEFR B1 | صيغ المستقبل: Will و Be Going to والمضارع المستمر للمواعيد
Comprehensive mastery of English Future Forms: Will (predictions, spontaneous decisions, promises), Be Going To (intentions, evidence-based predictions), Present Continuous for fixed calendar arrangements, and Future Time Clauses with When, As Soon As, and If.
'Will + base verb' is used for predictions based on personal opinion or belief (without immediate physical evidence), spontaneous decisions made at the exact moment of speaking, promises, and offers of help.
Subject + will ('ll) + base verb (e.g. I'll help you with that report.)
Subject + will not (won't) + base verb (e.g. He won't forget the meeting.)
Will + subject + base verb? (e.g. Will you attend the workshop tomorrow?)
'Be going to + base verb' is used for prior intentions (plans decided BEFORE the moment of speaking) and predictions based on present sensory evidence (what you can see, hear, or feel right now).
Subject + am/is/are + going to + base verb (e.g. She is going to launch her startup next month.)
Subject + am/is/are + not + going to + base verb (e.g. We aren't going to buy a new car this year.)
Am/Is/Are + subject + going to + base verb? (e.g. Are you going to apply for that scholarship?)
The Present Continuous (am/is/are + verb-ing) is used for fixed social or professional arrangements in the future where a specific time, date, or other people are already organized and confirmed.
Implies that practical arrangements (tickets, bookings, invitations) have already been finalized.
Both parties have agreed upon the time and venue.
In sentences with future time clauses (introduced by when, as soon as, before, after, until, if), we use the PRESENT SIMPLE in the time clause, even though the meaning refers to the future. We NEVER use 'will' inside the time clause itself!
